Does Albania need a de-oligarchization process?
Round Table Discussion organized by CSDG – Center for the Study of Democracy and Governance aimed to address the need to limit private interests on politics and the economy, as a consolidated practice with negative consequences for long-term and sustainable development economic and social of the country.
The consequences created by clientelistic relationships and favoritism have emphasized the presence of problems such as market monopolization, lack of competition, low economic well-being, lack of information and unemployment, the increase of inequalities and the violation of social cohesion, undermining the trust of citizens in state institutions. .
Now that the opening of negotiations with the European Union is a priority for Albania, addressing these challenges should also focus on:
☑️ Limiting the influence of private interests on politics and the economy;
☑️ Building a state with equal opportunities and access;
☑️ Ensuring full transparency and strong measures that promote a competitive economy;
☑️ Increasing the level of preparation to respond to rhythms and dynamics beyond the region.
